So saddened to find out this inspiring lioness passed away. In 2000 I remember seeing her as one of 3 lionesses and 1 male. All but her, were poached out & she was literally left to wander the plains alone for years until @africanparksnetwork reintroduced lions back to the park and she was able to be with her own kind again. In the years leading up to that she befriended humans, the very same creature that wiped out her family. She somehow knew that these humans that she selected to be with were different and were trying to help. She was right. She lived a long life and no one really knows how old she was when she died but she certainly wasn't a cub back in 2000. Significantly she passed the day before #worldlionday as if to send a message to the world. Thanks @africanparksnetwork for all the great work you do and for those of you who don't know who they are look them up. They're an organization that has gone from strength to strength not getting involved in petty politics within the animal world, but rather put their efforts into real conservation initiatives like saving African parks.
