It's World Lion Day! In 1967, LIFE published a 14 page photo essay about the king of beasts, THE LION. "Indolent, playful, amorous, yet in his strength, ferocity and power, he is always the king of beasts. The image here was published and illustrates a male lion relaxing. According to LIFE.
