Many people have asked me how the format for the IFSC Boulder Worldcup Munich in 10 days from now works, as it's not only a worldcup, but also this year's European Chamionship.

The worldcup itself won't see any changes. To make the European Championships as fair as possible, in addition to the worldcup top 20, also those climbers that place European top 20 are allowed to climb in semifinals. That means that there might be more than 20 athletes in semifinals. These European 'extra' semifinalists are still in the game for the European Championships, but not for the worldcup.

At the end of the semifinals their will be two result lists. One for the European Chamionships, (there will be no finals for the ECH, so semifinals decides the titles) and one for the worldcup. A normal worldcup finals will be held off course.

Thanks to this slight change in format, European athletes will be given the fairest chance to compete, in the not so ideal situation of 'double titles in one comp'
Was that understandable? Do you have questions about it?
