Just in case you didn't see the last post... A few years ago @vicmensa and I traded some tweets, then a few texts about skateboarding and what it meant to him, then he blew up and we never really got to meet. Flash forward to two weeks ago when I got invited to his listening part for the new album that drops today and I'm standing right in front of Jay Z as he introduces the album and Vic to all the people at this invite only event and I'm thinking to myself... damn... this young man from Chicago has Jay Z talking about how sick he is and he grew up loving Eric Koston and Andrew Reynolds and watching the Berrics? How incredible is it to think that maybe, just maybe, skateboarding helped shape this young superstar's life and now he's out there fuckin doing it and shaping the way other people think. I finally got to sit down with Vic last week and talk to him for 6 hours about his new album, his life, skateboarding' effect on him, @erickoston and most of all, his new album which comes out today. Skaters support skaters and that's what I love about skateboarding, whether those skaters end up being writers, directors, painters, chefs, accountants or rappers.
