A couple of years ago, I posted this pretty cool story about a young lady who focused on the process to come back from some bad starts to win the World title.
This story just got a lot more awesome... A couple of days ago, Jessie won the World Title in the 16 & under Womens Cruiser class. Awesome? Definitely! BUT, in the quarter, semi and the final, she chose to go in an outside lane even though she had the first pick!
Why? Because she had the confidence in her ability to do well around the track but wanted to be 'safe' out of the start. From an inside lane, there's more pressure to GET a good start which can distract from HOW to get a good start.
So she chose lane 6, focused on her process, and won..! BUT, today, in her last year of age group before going to the Junior Elite class, Jessie went lane 1!
Lane 1 in the 1/8th, quarter, semi and most importantly, lane 1 in the final! She put herself under the ultimate pressure, but she was able to relax, not think about the result and focus on doing the best lap that she could!
Today, Jessie became the double World Champion for the 16 year old girls and finished off her age group racing career in the most incredible style and I couldn't be more proud!
