When I recently instagrammed a powerful image of women in The Handmaid's Tale costumes, protesting about the defunding of Planned Parenthood, Jasmine Shea commented "I was one of them". I DM'd her and asked her to write her account of the march on Capitol Hill, DC, and what inspired her to be a part of it. Deliberate misconceptions about PP are widely thrown about by the far right in the U.S. (scroll down our instagram feed to find the post for details) in order to dismantle an organisation that gives free contraception, cancer screenings, Pap smears and much more to women (and men!) who cannot afford expensive women's healthcare (only 3% of PP's budget goes to termination, if that is your choice).
