#waspworkout ??‍♀️#dessert! ? I eat desert EVERYDAY. I try to keep my sugar addiction under wraps and eat desert no more than, say, 2x a day. Before you call bullshit, let me clarify... MY DEFINITION OF DESERT: sweet things. There are the obvious offenders: chocolate of any design (chocolate MILK is still chocolate. Don't fool yourself...or your kids!). Ice cream. Cheesecake. Pie. Cookies. Donuts. Etc. BUT I see loads of omissions to the desert category: Umm...panCAKES and maple SYRUP?? How is that BREAKFAST and not desert? Waffles with the works??? Ummm...?. Desert. Muffins! Muffins are just a comedic word for cake with a muffin-top. Cake with so much MORE sugar and oil crammed in, it's literally pouring over its waistline. Hot ice cream! I think at the core of Starbucks' business model is the question: how can we make childish desert appear so classy and mature that adults really WANT to be seen walking around drinking it. Sweet cereal! GRANOLA! ? People rarely realize that most bowls of granola can wrack up as many sugar grams as a candy bar. That applies to all of those new, "healthy" nut and seed bars that are drowning in "organic" honey and rice syrup. Gatorade. Full of sugar. Most protein bars? Power drinks? Desert. Soda. Not just a "drink", a "desert drink". Wine and any other sweet alcohol. Desert. What else? Dried fruit! Loaded with sugar. "Real" fruit gummies (parents!)...DE-ssert. Fruit smoothies, flavoured yogurt, acai bowls, even fresh fruit! Desert. I think you're getting the picture. If it's sweet, it's desert. I'm not saying I don't eat all of these delicious things. No! I love me some sugar. BUT, I do it with my eyes wide open. I won't go to Jamba Juice for a Protein Berry smoothie and then over to Starbucks for a soy latte and fool myself into calling that "lunch and a coffee". If I do that, I call it what it is: two deserts at lunchtime. That way, when I get home and my hubby has made creme brule from scratch, I dig in KNOWING that I have now gorged myself on sugar today, so TOMORROW I might wanna make up for it by having the ONLY desert I eat be some fresh fruit and a sweet tea. ?? That's just my theory, though. What's yours???
