Photo and text by @mikecoots | I studied photography in college, and learned that when shooting portraits of people to always focus the lens on the eyes. It’s a visual connection to the emotion of the subject, and makes the imagery much more engaging. When shooting #sharks, I do the same. That red focus square in the viewfinder is always on the eyes, that’s focusing on the shark’s intelligence. We are used to sharks’ teeth being the center of attention, but I believe they survived for hundreds of millions of years not because of #jaws, but brains.
