Fighting bulls thunder down the streets of Pamplona in northern Spain, on the sixth bull run of the San Fermin festival. From 8am each day, hundreds of people run alongside six bulls on a winding half-mile route through the city's narrow streets, leading to the Plaza de Toros bullring. Bullfights then take place there in the afternoon. The ancient custom has long been opposed by animal rights activists, who say that the bulls are distressed, tortured and killed for entertainment.
