The first time King mimicked me I felt deeply understood, seen, and heard. Not to mention very proud of both of us for presence through detachment. I've always struggled with feeling invisible, but turns out we don't have to yell, over-explain, perform, or manipulate to achieve connection. Why would anyone want to be around that gross yucko energy? When I finally stopped trying to force results, putting pressure on us to get close, and expecting him to read my mind, that's when he felt free and chose to connect in an authentic way. I felt deep glee that he isn't engaging because he has to or because I forced him to. Turns out control is an illusion, and quite frankly, kind of exhausting and boring.
