I first saw @johnblackwelljr on Prince's Musicology tour. I was so focused on his playing. He was like an Olympian. Arms everywhere. A cymbal behind him. They usually opened with the song Musicology, and as much as I tried, I couldn't replicate his switch off between the trigger pad and snare. Impossible (for me). What an incredible drummer. I got to meet him, and he was absolutely sweet. All my love to you, John.
