Aloha, it's @threeifbysea - last picture to end our journey. Mauna Kea, or Mauna a Wākea is a sacred place for Hawaiians. The God Wākea, or "Sky Father," is considered to be the father of the people in Hawaiian legend. Along with his wife, Papahānaumoku or "Earth Mother," they gave birth to the Hawaiian race, and gave rise to the Hawaiian archipelago, as well as to the beginnings of our Hawaiian history. Mauna Kea's peak climbs so close to the Heavens it is easy to see why this 13,803' tall mountain is named after Wākea, "Sky Father."
It is our hope that through conservation of sacred places like this, our culture will live on through the harmony of our good deeds. We will be able to pass on the stories of our beginnings with no end. Ua mau ke ea o ka ʻāina i ka pono. The life of the land is preserved in righteousness. #TakeoverTuesday
