Fosters Family Stories submission from Krystal:
I have never lived in a foster home but I was adopted when I was just a baby. I have never met my birth parents, but from what I have heard they were desperate to find a family willing to take care of me. My birth parents already had many children and couldn't afford to care for another child. When I found out I was adopted, I had a wide range of emotions flooding through me such as depression, anger, confusion, feeling unwanted and feeling lost about who I was and where I came from. As I grew older, I was able to realize that my birth parents only wanted what was best for me and wanted me to have opportunities that they did not have when growing up. My adoptive parents remind me of Lena and Stef. They took me in as their own child, have loved me unconditionally, and have supported me through all of my life decisions. I am so thankful for my adoptive parents because if it wasn't for them I do not know where I would be. My adoptive parents have been by my side since I was a baby, and they have provided me with so many wonderful opportunities that I am forever grateful for. Because of them I have been able to travel the world, because of them I have been able to graduate from college, because of them I have been able to feel what it is like to be loved unconditionally, and because of them I have felt what it is like to be truly cared for. I am so glad to be able to share my story with others who are experiencing the same life events as I have and I also want to thank those who have shared their life experiences with me. Thank you to Freeform for allowing those of us who can relate to The Fosters to share our stories with others.
