We all have mentors in our lives that push us to be a better athlete, a better human. Mats, was my high school soccer coach and also my boss at my first job at The Soccer Shop. I had a hard time through select soccer because of my size, I was overlooked most times. Mats never saw size, he saw talent and hard work. He allowed me to be myself and believed in me. Looking back on my athletic career, I believe it's people like Mats that instilled a deep confidence in myself, that I was born to do something great. I am forever grateful for his wisdom and sensei-ness. Find a mentor. Be a mentor. This life is greater than just ourselves.
