Most nights on stage, I wear a red bandana. This red bandana reminds me of "the girl in the red bandana." Who is "the girl in the red bandana?" -
One night while on tour I felt drawn to a beautiful teenage girl to the right of the stage. She had her hands lifted and it was clear that she was taking in every word that was being spoken and sung. I walked over to her and said, "It doesn't matter where you come from or what you've been through, God has big dreams for you. God wants you to DREAM BIG because anything is possible." She stared at me as I spoke these words to her. I then said, "Yes, I'm talking to you, the girl in the red bandana and the grey hoodie." She began to cry and her friend beside her wrapped her arms around her to give her a hug. -
This red bandana reminds me to look for the one. There might be 20,000 people in the crowd, but maybe there is just one who needs to be reminded of who they are or that they are loved. I pray that my show is never about me, but about the people in front of me. I pray that through the songs and through the words spoken, someone, even just one, would find hope and healing.
I wrote the song that is playing in this video for my kids. This song "All Day" is about the struggle I had of coming back to work after becoming a momma. I didn't want to miss one thing. But we know, as a family, that THIS is what we are suppose to do... to find the one and hold them close! And in the times, where I can't be there with my babies, I know that God is holding them, and that gives my heart rest. For all the moms out there, I hope you can rest in that too. ??You are incredible and strong. So, to the girl in the red bandana, don't forget the words that were spoken over you, you were made for greatness.
