As I watched the latest episode of RuPaul's Drag Race, I wondered, "When did I first fall in love with RuPaul?" It feels like I've been a fan my whole life. Then I realized it must have been my dance teacher Doug Miklos who sparked this love when I was a kid. We warmed up to "Covergirl" every week in class. At the beginning of Pride Month I wanted to take a moment to remember Doug Miklos and all the other extraordinary LGBTQ people we lost to AIDS. I'll never forget watching Doug's final dance performance. He was very sick and frail at this point but it was one of the most incredible performances I have ever seen. Thank you Doug for your patience (I must have been one of his worst students), kindness and for introducing me to RuPaul. I wish you were here to see Drag Race and all the amazing Pittsburgh queens slaying on the show.
