I don't have any family or friends who have died fighting for our country. I do know many people who do and I cherish the opportunities I've had to do my part in helping our troops. The realization that, in many cases, these are 18 year old men and women, people with families, everyday people just like us, giving up their lives, to be shipped off to a country they've never even thought about, all in the name of protecting us at home- it's one I wasn't able to fully grasp until I did my first military tour, years ago. My time overseas, meeting our troops, talking with these men and women and performing for them- it's the thing I'm most honored and proud of, not just in my career but in my life. Today's meaning is so special, often overshadowed by trips, BBQs and alcohol. But today is a day we take the time to remember that without cumulative sacrifices of our military, there would be nothing to celebrate, ever. As civilians we can never thank you enough for what you selflessly give. I love my country so much and I love the troops. I cannot wait till my next USO show.
