This week's military hero, Ernest Franklin Philips Jr., wanted to reduce the number of MEDVAC flights of wounded service members landing at Anderson Air Force Base during the Vietnam War. He made sure the 54th Weather Reconnaissance Squadron created rain, instead of bombs, to flood the enemy.
