@amyarbus was never a stranger to the field of photography — her mother was the acclaimed photographer #DianeArbus and her father was the actor and photographer Allan Arbus. But Amy didn’t pick up a camera until after her mother was no longer taking photos. She started photographing street style in NYC in the 80s as a way to meet the cool downtown crowd. When @nytimesfashion asked her to take photos for #TheLook, a weekly photo essay about style, @amyarbus enlisted some people she knows to show their identity through their head coverings and asked them to be photographed. “I decided to focus on headwear because I had gone to the Women's March, and there was a crazy number of pussy cat hats,” she said. “I loved the fact that people wore them in solidarity.” To see more photos by @amyarbus, visit the link in our profile.
