Two years ago, Green Wish was given a grant by the California Institute of Contemporary Art (CICA.org) to support "media that inspires and informs, regarding our environment." I directed a film called "The Concrete River: Reviving the Waters of Los Angeles" (with a tremendous amount of help from so many). This was a film focused on the incredible work that Friends of the LA River has done, but also speaking to the history of the LA River, which is, for most people in LA either an eye-sore, or a punch line. What we discovered making this movie was astonishing-- the history and the restoration that is taking place, in many parts of the river, is something quite remarkable.
I am so proud to say that KCET, the nations largest independent public broadcasting station, is premiering the film, on May 20th at 7:00pm. It will be shown during their fund raising drive, as a one hour special, with in studio interviews we did, with individuals and organizations with ties to the river, it's history and it's future. The Newman's Own Foundation is also providing a matching grant to support "this kind of quality programming our viewers have come to expect." As a filmmaker and as someone passionate about the environment, I could not be happier that KCET has acquired our film. Many thanks to the CICA for making it possible.
