If you guys have a second, please watch a documentary called "The True Cost". Last year, I saw this film and it inspired me to start my new company BaYou with Love as it opened my eyes to the fast fashion industry and the truth behind where our "affordable" and "disposable" clothing truly comes from. While fashion may be such a special means of self expression, our obsession with having more and more and cheaper and cheaper clothing only means hat someone else somewhere else is paying the high price as is our environment. The more comments I see about making our clothing "less expensive" the MORE inspired I am to continue on our mission of educating people (and myself) on WHY it costs so much to make sustainable and ethical choices with fashion. The fact is, the more we continue with companies like Bayou With Love the more awareness we build in consumers which will create a demand for more manufacturing in the US and ETHICAL treatment in factories with less chemicals used to grow materials, eventually reducing the cost. Until there is a demand, we have to keep supporting brands that are out there trying to do things the right way, trying to make a difference. The truth is it IS OUTRAGEOUS that we don't have other options, and your frustration is my frustration. Until actual consumer behavior changes, nothing will change and it will be business as usual. Until we all understand THE TRUE COST we will continue degrading our environment and putting hundreds of millions of people's lives at risk. Learn about WHY it costs so much to do what we're doing, producing in ethical factories in the United States with low chemical content. So let's get loud.
