I wish I had enough French to write this in the beautiful language,but this will have to do. If anyone who can vote in France this weekend is thinking about sitting on the sidelines because they don't want to vote for 'the lesser of two evils'. Please just take a second to consider the similarities to what has just happened here. A racist, xenophobic populist riding a wave of popular discontent, assisted by Russian propaganda and broad disgust with the current political/social/economic climate, running against a flawed 'status quo' candidate took our presidency. Riding that wave his administration has sought to dismantle the social safety net, transfer money to cronies and the wealthy and stumble blindly on the international stage. The only thing saving us so far has been his total incompetence. Which is why M. Le Pen is so much scarier. She has lied, disavowed her father, plagiarized her opponent; whatever it takes to seize power. But once there she knows the system of government and will be able to do real and lasting damage to France. To a United Europe. To the 'Liberal Western Order' and to global stability. So I guess what I'm asking is... be better than us. Just think of how long you'll be able to hold this over both us and the Brits if you choose to be the sane path!! That alone should be worth going to the polls. (Rant over. If you made it this far, thanks)
