Watching a #leopardSeal disembowel a penguin is without a doubt violent, but incredibly resourceful to see considering they have no hands. I was lucky enough to witness this about 4 feet from the seal while floating in a zodiac! With the Penguin clamped down firmly in their jaws, they thrash back and fourth, shredding it to create easier access to the meaty parts they eat. Sure it sad, but nature is raw and every animal plays a vital role, from apex predator to microorganism. Leopard Seals primarily feed on krill, mainly hunting penguin during the fledgling season making this a rare treat.
