I have to tell you a little story that has been heavy on my mind for the last couple of days. ?
I was told about a recent Instagram photo of a woman who was out in a park in Portland who was holding a big Savannah/serval cat.
The picture should have made me smile, except for one thing that caught my eye in the hashtags in the caption. #lovemylife #lovebug #portland #oregon #serval #savannah #savannahcat #giantbaby #declawed #park #soheavy #spoiled
Yep...she declawed the cat. On all four paws. ??
A few people made respectful comments on the photo, about the facts on how declawing is an amputation procedure, inhumane, and harmful to a cat.
This cat owner wrote them back and said, "It always took two of us to cut them, plus allergies to much biting of the paw and the little monster gram- just in general made our lives easier and we couldn't be happier with the outcome we did full lazier on all four paws."
She then went on to say to them, "Sorry you guys feel that way! We couldn't be happier my animal is way more playful and way more happier so it works for us. " I've just been thinking about that poor beautiful cat and how his health and well being was forever harmed by someone who went to an unethical declawing vet who deceived her about this mutilating procedure. That terrible "doctor" of veterinary medicine, savagely burned off every single toe bone from all four paws on that exotic cat. Most likely the vet did the usual BS laser declaw spiel and told that cat owner that it was less painful, quicker healing and less invasive to use their $35,000 laser to declaw the cat.
It's all a lie and is just as inhumane and mutilating as a scalpel or a guillotine clipper.
I've heard that since 2011, it's against the law to own an exotic cat in Oregon.
Friends in honor of that cat, please educate your family and friends about declawing, since so many pro-declaw vets are deceiving and lying to cat owners about this barbaric procedure.
