A "super bloom" of #wildflowers has popped up across the Carrizo Plain National Monument in Southern California due to an excess of rain over the winter months. The swaths of yellow hillside #daisies have increased visitors to the grasslands ten-fold.

The flowers will continue to bloom for another couple of weeks. According to the monument's website, mid-March to mid-April is usually the best time the view the wildflowers, and usually offers visitors a rare chance to be alone with nature.

The #CarrizoPlain is home to diverse communities of wildlife and plant species including several listed as threatened or #endangered. It is the largest remaining natural alkali wetland in Southern #California.
