I got asked to be an ambassador for Record Store Day when my sister sent me a picture of a box of vinyl in a record shop that was labeled 'Female' and we were frustrated so I tweeted about it. We gotta work to make people understand even the most basic and ridiculous levels of sexism. Otherwise how can we ever progress. Female is not a genre. I was asked to encourage girls to go into record shops as they can be an intimidating environment when the world is constantly dismissing you. Girls get yourselves into music without embarrassment/shame. You'll be underestimated & mocked but you will redefine the future, propel and grow the movement and you will empower yourselves and the next generation.
