#BTS "ERASED FROM EXISTENCE" VIDEO! Please excuse lengthy post. Two clips here. The first is likely familiar to #DCtv and #legendsoftomorrow fans. The second clip is connected, but before I explain, a word about just how many hours of collective work goes into creating an episode of television. The average person can maybe imagine the hours an actor or director works because they often speak publicly about their schedules. And they do work long hours, especially on a show as large and ambitious as LoT. What that means for all the other departments including hair and makeup, transportation, camera, grips and electric, set decoration, wardrobe, stunts and so on are even more hours than actors and directors, because they arrive early to set the stage and leave later to tear it down and put it away. And perhaps what's least appreciated in the process is the amount of time spent in post-production on any show, but especially a show that's as laden with visual effects as LoT. The VFX team has an enormous job every episode. Not only do the have to execute top-notch VFX, but they have to do it in much less time with nowhere near the budget of big movie VFX. It's a race every episode. The LoT season finale was no exception. The team was working insane hours to create, among other things a Thawne army and this exquisite "erased from existence" sequence you see here. The path was not easy. In fact, a week after the show was wrapped, I flew to Vancouver for the day to pick up a couple shots they felt they really needed to make this sing. The finale aired April 7th. In the days leading up to it, the VFX team was almost literally working around the clock to finish this sequence. At one point, a "glitch" in the rendering created the terrifyingly hilarious second clip. It was then sent to the VFX head as a late April Fools joke. "All done, boss!" There were no cardiac arrests in the making of this motion picture, but had there been, it likely would have been due to this clip. Once again, bravo to all those behind the scenes that work their asses off to get things right. And occasionally, very, very wrong. #eobardthawne #reverseflash #legendsoftomorrow #bts #vfx
