On Tuesday, April 11, 150 of our #TeamKōkua volunteers scoured the grounds at HNL for potentially dangerous FOD – or Foreign Object Debris. The event, organized by the State of Hawai‘i Department of Transportation in honor of #EarthDay, cleared the ramp area of stray bits of plastic and metal that might be ingested into a jet engine or run over by an aircraft, potentially causing significant damage. Hawaiian Airlines employees from Project Management, IT, Human Resources, Maintenance & Supply, Cargo, Safety & Security, Finance, Airport Operations, Flight and Corporate Communications joined workers from Smart Carte, Swissport, and other airport vendors for an invigorating two-hour FOD walk.
