I first met Delmar when he was keyboard player in the Gil Evans Orchestra. I used to sit in with them at their residency at Sweet Basil in the Village. Delmar then joined my own band for the Nothing Like the Sun tour. He was such an extraordinary musician with an amazing, stratospheric voice. He was a big soul. I wish him well on his journey and grateful for his company on mine.
