Simba, a three year old lion and Lula, a three year old Syrian brown bear, are stuck at a checkpoint trying to get the paperwork for them to leave east #Mosul, #Iraq.
In January, Iraqi forces gained control of Mosul's Zoo. There they found dozens of dead animals and a lucky few that survived two months of fighting and starvation. Now, the animal welfare and rescue NGO, Four Paws, is trying to evacuate Simba and Lula. (Ben Wedeman / CNN)
