I was told about a post that a woman made on facebook. She said her cat attacked her and scratched and bit her and she's going to take it to get a full, four paw declaw on April 7th. Oh no!!! ????
She said that the cat went to attack a friend's dog and her "arm got in the way." She said, "Really he's a sweet cat he just doesn't like dogs! The kids don't want me to get rid of him, I rather take away his defense mechanisms and give him another chance." She also said,"She also said ,"He also has other issues involving his claws, my 11yr old daughter has very long hair and he goes after it all the time scratching her. He also shreds any paper products left out."" ???What kind of RESPECTFUL advice would you give this woman? ??????
I would tell her that declawed cats often bite more and become aggressive from the declaws.
I would tell her to simply put the kitty in a room when a friend's dog comes over and there would be no confrontation or worry. Obviously the kitty was just trying to protect its space and probably was scared of the dog. I would tell her that any vet that declaws a cat is harming it for its lifetime. I would tell her that any vet that declaws a cat on all four paws is just a horrible human being who shouldn't be practicing veterinary medicine.
