In order to avoid using expensive computer generated images and green screen techniques @nathanthoen and I shot over 200+ takes of the song and painstakingly cut them all together the old fashioned way on our tour bus and in hotel rooms.

Working as a crew of two, there’s no way we could have set up giant green screens in the Bazaar in Istanbul or on the streets of London and cloning me just didn't seem like the best option. The greatest challenge was to shoot each scene super fast one after the other, because if there were any clouds that moved or the sun was setting, it would cause the light to change and then we couldn’t cut the multiple images together seamlessly.

'Crazy For You’ is a song for the person in your life who gets you through the times when it seems like the whole world is spinning out of control around you. I know a lot of people, myself included, who are feeling that way right now.

That person in my life is my wife, Sara, for whom I wrote the song. She’s my sounding board, my shoulder to cry on and my in-house comedienne who helps me laugh my ass off, back into balance through my greatest challenges. She's good!

We used the ‘Multiple Michaels’ effect as a metaphor for how crazy life can feel, 'multi-thinking' about politics, family, music, survival, etc. We wanted the video to be playful, but not shy away from the important issues of today so we used the cue card idea in the last verse to help spell out the most pointed social lyrics in the song.

A few weeks after we filmed in the Besiktas Soccer Stadium, 38 people were killed and 166 wounded in a terror attack just outside after a match. We didn’t know the lyric in the song”…tell me what’s the message of a terrorist?” would hit so close to home.

We dedicate this video to all those who who were killed and injured, to Besiktas Football Supporters and to all those around the world calling for an end to political violence everywhere.
