@chakabars : "let's talk about water.
The people need immediate water aid, as there are 2 million people who have been displaced in Somalia because of the drought, we are going to do the best we can do to support the people who need it the most.
There are various options in terms of long term solutions, we will probably go with solar wells, but for now people are dying because they don't have water.
When we first arrived at the camp and distribution centre we saw women and children sitting under trees.
I thought it was because they were waiting for buses... I was wrong, it was because they had just arrived from days, even weeks of walking from their homes. One woman I spoke to had walked for 5 days!!! The drought had killed all of their livestock and crops, there is no more water where they used to live.
I was hearing the most heart breaking stories, some women had lost their children on the way, some children had lost their mothers... They were sitting under the trees, seeking shelter from the sun. Many would sleep here.
As and when they could acquire a tent, they would settle in the camp, or by the side of the road.
This camp was set up 2 weeks ago and 3000 people live they. They all need water every day, currently there are 1.2 million people in camps in Mogadishu. This is the start of the water relief from #lovearmyforsomalia
We said that we allocate the first million dollars on food, and the rest of your money on water aid and long term water solutions. We will do this. Please tag people, and share this post, we need more people to care about what is going on, in Somalia ??Love and blessings family. ❤"
