On my way back to the airport in Tel Aviv I asked our Israeli driver Uri, who he believed #MaryMagdalene was and what the general consensus was of his peers, colleagues, friends and family members there in #Israel. “Well,” he said, with a little edge on his voice, “I think she was a very smart woman. Maybe a little too strong and outspoken for her time and the men didn’t like that. So they gave her a bad reputation.” All I could think was, “WOW. If she had the courage to speak her mind and be her true self back then, what have I been so afraid of?” What is the Truth? The Truth of Mary Magdalene? Sinner or Saint?

From the ancient #Gospel of Mary discovered in upper #Egypt, to modern day feature films, never in history has there been a woman of such mystery; misunderstood, misrepresented and under represented for thousands of years. But does there exist a clue in the very name she carried? She was not identified as the daughter of her father or the sister of her brother as was customary in those days.
