Feathered fact: The original hawk that played Mordecai in the "Royal Tenenbaums" (2001) was not only kidnapped, but held for ransom. Director Wes Anderson decided to use a second hawk. The new bird looked differently and it was addressed in the Oscar-nominated script thusly:

Richie: See now he has more white feathers on his neck.
Margot: I wonder what happened to him.
Richie: I don’t know. Sometimes if a person has a traumatic experience their hair turns white.
Margot: Well, I’m sure he’ll get over it.
