During Tangier’s heady ‘interzone’ years, the city was a magnet for the Beat Generation, and the Hotel El Munira was one of their favorite places to stay. William S. Burroughs wrote his seminal novel The Naked Lunch in room 9 and Jack Kerouac and Allen Ginsberg both stayed in the room pictured here.
