It has been 5 years since my twin sister Sam passed away. I look back at all the messages and words, helping hands, and kindness my family and I have received along the way. And I am overwhelmed by all of the love. Thank you. No matter how small the gesture, the impact was and is huge. I am forever grateful.

I urge everyone to continue to reach out to others on a daily basis. We are all fighting our own battles, and we all could use some love and kindness.

Please take a moment and remember Sam this week. Share what you remember with others who were fortunate enough to know her, as well those who didn't get the chance. There are so many beautiful memories of her, and through those, we keep her presence alive.

I took this photo of Sam on her film camera, one gray Sunday at Half Moon Bay. We both needed an escape from studies, so we drove to the coast together, blasting Jack Johnson and chugging Starbucks along the way.
