The “Hurrian Hymn”, considered to be the oldest song in the world, and earliest-known example of musical notation is written on a clay tablet about the size of a smart phone. The tablet was found at the site of ancient Ugarit, near the Syrian coast, and is in the collection of the National Museum of Damascus. During the month of March, a new musical interpretation of the 3,400-year-old “Hurrian Hymn" commissioned by the Institute for the Study of the Ancient World (@isawnyu) travels to the Guggenheim, where participating museum staff will perform the song daily at 12 pm and 2 pm. These gallery performances are part of Lenka Clayton (@lenkaclaytonstudio) and John Rubin's (@jonrubinstudio) #CircleNY. Learn more at CircleThroughNewYork.com.
