Amazing show last night! ?
When I moved from Las Vegas to San Diego via Mexico, I had to acclimate to the new sounds and music culture. Vegas was very R&B Vs. Southern California's alternative music scene heard mostly on popular radio stations like 91X. Eventually, I migrated North to Los Angeles where I remember hearing the Chili Peppers for the first time. I LOVED that funky bass, hard hitting drums, random but sometimes poignant rap-like lyrics plucked from God-knows-where infused with the ethereal guitar stylings of John Frusciante.
I fell in love with Los Angeles and the sounds of it.
Today the Chili Peppers are one of my favorite bands because I associate them with so many wonderful times in my life. Moving here, having my son, going to their first concert with my Son's Dad... They just make me happy.
They are the beach, the sun, the windows down in my car, wind-in- my-hair, "carefree" feeling. They personify all things California to me.
Forever a fan. ?
