this is my mother. this photo from college. her name is Lydia. she plays seven different instruments. Judy Collins wishes she had her voice. she teaches. she writes. she draws. she paints. she made my clothes & furniture growing up. her first thought when she has a need isn't where can I get it, it's how can i make it. she loves a bargain. she is the middle child of five. she buried my father both her parents & my father's parents and two sisters all in about a five year span. she walks. she prays. she plays. she does yoga. she has a trampoline. she reads. she's a warrior. and "dearie" to three grandchildren. she never settles and she never compromised. she believes strongly. loves deeply. and encourages wildly. she has great taste. makes great salsa. she's my conscience. she's a trendsetter. and she never told me I "couldn't" or that I "can't". only that I can and that I am. thank you mother for never letting me see the world through the eyes of my gender because I never knew anything could ever hold me back or why it would. you are an incredible example. and I am very lucky you are my mother. you and all women are awesome. and I am full of awe. happy #internationalwomensday #iwd
