So here is a weird obsession I have: Title Cards & Fonts. Don't ask me why. it's too bizarre to even explain. when I was young, grandma used to watch all the CBS soaps religiously. I wasn't big on the soaps but for some reason I was obsessed w how scary/weird/impactful the 30 second themes/fonts & sponsor voice overs were ("#guidinglight brought to you by #Jif, because choosey mothers choose JIF") even my #SoulTrain obsession is due to my love for the opening animated 30 sec dancing train & the logo tags at the end of every segment. Even #SNL gets love for its creative shots of the hosts doing weird things before the sketches start. remember #MayaRudolph recreating her mom's #PerfectAngel melting ice cream motif?--creative ish like that is what I live for. It's the small things that add up. Some cool tags happen at the end of the shows too (#SitUbuSit #GoodDog) some logo tags do great things too (remember Spike letting Flav spell out the letters to #UNIVERSAL @ the beginning of #MoBettaBlues?)--anywho I wrote all of that up there to throw off the scent to the windows of my crazy. Next to #GoogleDoodles (they let me see mines---and it won't be used til 50 yrs after I pass ?) My current obsession is guessing the @GIRLShbo random title cards. From the Colors. To The music used. Will they do a rouge one time use font? (Remember the crack episode? Or Japanese characters?)---I begged & begged & was finally granted my wish to curate a GIRLS title card (for non watchers: there is a cold open then a hard abrupt 5 second GIRLS logo--then show commences. My wish was to see the letters come to life & represent the show's principles. s/o to @okayplayer's creative team (@dantana for organizing, @thebongi for designing, & @jennyscales_ for animating.) doubt y'all read this all. But this is a bucketlist of mine I'm happy I got to fulfill. ?????
