On behalf of my fellow producers and all the artists and activists who participated in #13th, we thank our families at home, we think of the families who are waiting for their incarcerated loved ones to come home, and we thank our family at Netflix: #TedSarandos and #LisaNishimura. Thank you for making the telling of this story possible, a story that shouldn't have had to be told. A story that this country will have to tell again and again, unless we change the direction we are going. Now more than ever, when people of all kinds are actively and aggressively being devalued and dehumanized by the current administration - poor people, working people, black people, brown people, Muslim people, Native people, immigrating people, incarcerated people, women people, artist people, press people, transgender people, people with disabilities - it is imperative for those of us who believe in justice and dignity for all to fight for each other. I believe in our power. It is greater than the powers that seek to divide us. Power to the people. ✊?
