Every Oscar fist-pumped or tearfully cradled by #AcademyAward winners is first cast, buffed and fussed over at a foundry far from Hollywood. Work begins in late September on crafting the 60 identical 13½ inches tall gold #Oscars for tonight's awards.

Each statuette is coated in three layers - copper and nickel plating each statue before the final iconic 24-karat-gold plating.
