Halima Aden has become the first hijab-wearing model to sign a contract with IMG, the same agency that also reps Gigi Hadid and Kate Moss. Walking in the Kanye West show last week, she made history at #NYFW, and today she walked the Alberta Ferretti show during #MFW. Aden was born in a Kenyan refugee camp and traces her heritage to Somalia. The 19-year-old first came into the spotlight in 2016 when she competed in the Miss Minnesota USA event wearing a hijab in all the rounds and a burkini during the swimsuit segment—a first for the pageant.
