Raye Montague, born in 1935 in Little Rock, Arkansas, is the first person to design a U.S. Navy ship using a computer. She began working for the Navy after graduating college in 1956. Despite racial and gender barriers, she rose in the ranks to become a computer systems analyst. In 1970, the Admiral brought in a request from President Nixon to design a ship. The president gave the Navy two months to complete the design, but the Admiral pressured Raye to finish it in one month. It only took her 18 hours. #howdoyoulikethemapples #happyblackhistorymonth
