A shot from the basement of the boiler house in White Bay Power Station, an iconic feature of the Sydney's Inner West landscape for the last 100 years. The power station has sat down dormant for the past 30 years but it will soon be transformed into a tech-hub for the city. This is a very special shot for @lostc0llective because it is essentially what prompted Brett to create Lost Collective. He had been photographing abandoned buildings since 2011 but without really having any plan to do anything with it. Brett wanted something different, something that could set itself apart from all the previous run down, burnt out and heavily vandalised buildings that made up his portfolio. For this reason he decided to try his luck with an access request to photograph White Bay Power Station, having full expectation of that being declined. About a week later, he was unfettered granted access. Brett knew it was something special straight away. As he was editing his photographs, he realised he needed to make something of this opportunity besides an ever growing collection of images, and from that Lost Collective was born. The #NIKKOR AF-S 14-24mm f/2.8G ED is Brett workhorse lens for its ability to capture the span of large and small rooms and for its amazing image quality and sharpness, right to the edges. This year is the centenary of operations for White Bay Power Station, which is quite fitting that Nikon is celebrating its 100th birthday too.
