Under the Fort Laramie Treaties of 1851 and 1888, the US federal government is to consider a native tribe's welfare when making decisions that affect the tribes themselves, including the Sioux of Standing Rock.
The latest court development today puts action to moving forward the Dakota Access Oil Pipeline on Sioux land, continuing an egregious historic pattern of broken treaties and promises made to Native American Tribes.
Those at the protest lines and encampment are currently enduring extremely harsh winter elements. Pray for the native people and for Standing Rock.
