10 years ago today, I posted the first episode of #SModcast with @samosier - February 5th, 2007. Sadly, there's no photo of the moment that would change my life: the day Mos & I sat down with an M-Audio MicroTrack II recorder that film editor Elliot Greenberg set up for us at the old View Askew office on DeLongpre in Los Angeles. The idea was simple: create content for the Quick Stop Ent website while hanging out and bullshitting with Mos the way we did in film school, when we first met. We mused about doing live shows for two years before I finally convinced Mos to take the show on tour back in 2010, and our little conversation has spawned the pods #tellemstevedave, #jayandsilentbobgetold, #plusone #hollywoodbabbleon, #edumacation, #fatmanonbatman, #feeb #smoviemakers #talksaladandscrambledeggs and many more that make up the SModcast Network. SModcast led to the Red State Tour, @tuskthemovie & @yogahosers as well as the tv show #comicbookmen. I was able to walk away from movies for 3 years because I started making my living doing live pods, so SModcast also gave me financial freedom to simply be myself for a living. But most importantly, SModcast has provided me with hundreds of hours of the greatest times in my life. Laughing away the last decade behind mics with my bro, Scotty Mo has been my favorite part of any week. Thanks for listening along for the last ten years - I hope to keep it going until we drop dead. 2 shows celebrating the 10 year birthday will drop this week: one with Mos via phone (he's in France working on a massive movie project) and one with me solo, sharing a story with you about a flick in my near future that I'm pretty excited to tell you about. Right now, I'm in Vancouver, literally four blocks from where I first met Mos, 25 years ago. Little did I know that 90210-looking bad boy would not only help me build my film career, but that he's also help me build my podcasting career too. Sit down and talk to your friends, Kids!
