Wlodzimierz Niewiadomski has been running survival camps for 30 years. One of the tasks in his training: crossing this clumpy swamp near Zamrzenica, Poland. @tymonmarkowski believes the swamp, created by the Brda River’s waters, is “good for health”; he told the photographer @tymonmarkowski that after he accidentally cut off the tip of his finger, bathing in the swamp helped it grow back — much to his doctor’s surprise. @tymonmarkowski, who has lived in Bydgoszcz, Poland, since he was a child and knows the Brda well, says the aim of his photos, is to capture the imaginative “strangeness” of Polish river towns and Poland’s “lack of judgment on the imagination of citizens.” Visit the link in our profile to see more of @tymonmarkowski’s photos on the @ニューヨーク・タイムズ #lensblog.
