We started our honeymoon with the world-renowned Brazilian carnival and experienced a dozen more fests across the continents. One of our favorites was the Gedong Mask Festival, deep in the mountains of Benzilan, China. Set to the backdrop of a 400-year-old Tibetan monastery, fanciful dancers in painted masks and an orchestra of crimson-robed monks performed dramatic Buddhist allegories. We danced, played traditional games, befriended monks, and were completely dazzled by this cultural extravaganza.”
